This is a rebranding project for the 356 years old Chinese scissor brand, Zhang xiaoquan. Although the products were never manufactured, the design was recognized internationally. The project also helped the traditional brand drew much attentions from younger generations as well as different media channels, including BBC.
I designed two sets of tools for Zhang xiaoquan. The first one is for younger families in China. Most Chinese young people live in apartments and they put away their tool box. This design encourage them to hang all the tools on the wall as decoration, while providing easy access when needed.
The second set is handmade office tools. It is designed to pass on the handmade tradition of Zhang xiaoquan.
